The Poet's Murmuration (NEW!)

the Poet’s Murmuration

Marigold Project, with support from the Exploratorium, celebrated“The Poet’s Murmuration” on October 19th, 2023.

The Festival of Altars Signature Ritual, which is practiced annually at Day of the Dead SF, expanded into an immersive literary art experience where nearly one hundred poets joined together to read ceremonial poetry in tandem.

Our First Poet’s Murmuration…

featured poetry dedicated to our ancestors and attendees were invited to walk amongst the poets, listening to their individual and collective murmurations. This healing poetry ceremony was designed to create sacred space for everyone and its success was evidenced through the joy and testimonials from participants and attendees alike.

Here is a photo from the event with our Director, Rosa De Anda, and Assistant Director and Poetry Curator, Cassandra Rockwood Ghanem along with some of the lead poets who featured in the launch of the Poet’s Murmuration.

Stay tuned for our video recap!

If you would like to participate in our next Murmuration, the Cacao Ceremony for Women’s History Month, slated for March, please contact the assistant director and curator, Cassandra: cassandra@themarigoldproject.org

Focusing on love in all its forms, poets will come together to recite their works while attendees enjoy the indigenous ceremonial cacao invocation. Consumed to set intentions and delight in the resourceful creativity of love, in Mexico chocolate has been used to incite vigor and awakening creative connections, improve moods, and open the heart.
