Marigold Project is an all volunteer-run Mission district based nonprofit. Our purpose is to preserve,
promote, and share the rituals and practices of Day of the Dead in San Francisco.

We do this each year by:

• Coordinating and commissioning the annual Festival of Altars at Garfield Park on November 2
• Publishing this website
• Distributing flyers and posters for the Procession and Altar Exhibit
• Creating a public space for community members to honor the loss of loved ones in their lives and to connect with one another through art and expression over the timeless subject of death and dying

Marigold Project is fiscally sponsored by CounterPULSE. We are generously supported by the San
Francisco Arts Commission, the Mission Merchants Association, Rainbow Grocery Cooperative,
Zellerbach Family Foundation, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, community artists and individuals.
