Last year’s party was so much fun, we couldn’t resist doing it again!!! The party is starting at 9:00pm, so come over early for appetizers, cocktails and Nurse Noise
All proceeds from this party will go to the artistic creation of the public altars in Garfield Park on Monday, November 2. Day of the Dead San Francisco is a true community event with no corporate sponsors, let’s help to keep it that way! The space has a capacity of 150. Please buy tickets ahead of time to ensure your entrance to the party…
For tickets and location info, please Paypal: marigold.project@gmail.com. Please select ‘services’ so we don’t get charged a transaction fee. The party is at an intimate, cozy- albeit unusual- space in San Francisco that none of you have ever been to. Curious yet? :)
No one will be turned away for lack of funds. We would love to have your help with the event! Please send an email us at: marigold.project@gmail.com with “Volunteer” in the notes section, if you are interested in volunteering in exchange for a ticket.
2 Reminders:
- Please bring candles and pictures for our community altar
-Halloween is Daylight Savings, so we’ll be able to go an EXTRA hour, Yeah!
San Francisco’s Dia de los Muertos
November 2, 2009
7:00pm – midnite
Free
Dia de los Muertos is a traditional Meso-American holiday dedicated to the ancestors; it honors both death and the cycle of life. In Mexico, neighbors gather in local cemeteries to share food, music, and fun with their extended community, both living and departed. The celebration acknowledges that we still have a relationship with our ancestors and loved ones that have passed away.
In San Francisco, Day of the Dead has been celebrated since the early 70s with art, music, performances and a walking procession, which help us contemplate our existence and mortality -- a moment to remember deceased friends and family, and our connections beyond our immediate concerns.
For more information on Day of the Dead or if you would like to build an altar at the park, please visit: www.dayofthedeadsf.org
The procession begins at 7:00pm, 24th & Bryant and will end at the Festival of Altars in Garfield Park at 26th and Treat at approximately 8:30p.m.
Looking forward to dancing the night away with all of you… |
